This project exemplified the type of challenge that Lepage Millwork excels in. Initial consultations started in 2015 with the Magna Golf Club and Statements Windows and Doors, our authorized dealer based in Markham, Ontario. The mandate was to replace the windows and doors while maintaining the architectural elegance of the main building of this esteemed golf course, which has hosted numerous LPGA events over the years.
Project Challenges
The primary challenge was to meticulously replicate the details of the original build to include bolection moldings, raised panels, exterior casing details, custom interior profiles, wood species and most importantly achieving a custom stain colour that would be an exact match to the existing woodwork throughout the building. Emulating the original design and adhering to it’s historical accuracy was the foremost criterion stipulated by the Board of Directors.

After initial talks with various window and door companies, it became apparent that the flexibility and customization of Lepage Millwork and resources provided by Statements made this an obviously choice for Magna Golf Club.
Project Timeline and Delays
After drafting initial designs and proposals, the project was temporarily shelved for various reasons. The project was rekindled in 2017 when Statements Windows and Doors requested Lepage to pre-assemble the quad doors with transoms at the factory due to constraints on-site, we embraced the challenge and innovated a solution. Despite a further two-year delay before final approval, the pro ject eventually moved forward.
This experience highlighted the value of perseverance and collaboration.
Execution and Solutions
We were acutely aware that the project d emanded extensive detail-oriented planning and logistical coordination. The featured products in this renovation included French doors and wood casements. These were crafted from wood-clad pine, with a bespoke color developed in-house for the aluminum exterior and a stained wood interior. Most of the pro ducts featured a cambered top ; the doors had a 6" 9/16 frame, while the windows were designed with a 4" 9/16 frame. All elements, including custom brickmolds, door panels, head sash stops, sill horns, and simulated divided lites (SDL), were tailored to match the original specifications. Additionally, we incorporated a custom door closer installed discreetly on the top and interior of the sash, ensuring a seamless appearance and smooth operation.
Conclusion
The products were successfully delivered and installed in 2021, marking the completion of a project that underscored our ability to handle complex, high-stakes renovations with both precision and creativity.
